Branding with Human Design - Case Study with Style Story by Gabrielle

When Gabrielle got in contact with me she was looking to up level her business and brand in a way that truly reflected who she is and what she offers as a stylist.

When your business is service based and sees you interacting with clients personally, making sure your brand is in alignment with who you are is particularly important. It's all about authenticity. Sometimes finding a way to express this can be a hard thing to land on when someone says, "so, tell me about yourself."

Step one: Human Design Reading

Human Design is a super helpful system that I use as a tool when creating a brand for someone, and that is exactly where Gabby and I started, with me doing a personal Human Design Reading for her! A Human Design reading helps with branding because it:

  • Really helps me get a deep understanding of who you are and how you move through the world. This helps our working relationship and also helps me shape your brand strategy to suit this energy.

  • It uncovers gifts and strengths you may not even recognise in yourself. This helps shape your brand's value proposition, vision and mission.

  • It provides some key themes and words to guide what essence we will then infuse throughout your brand.

In Gabby's case it revealed, amongst other things, that she is Manifesting Generator who has themes of:

  • IMPACT: the ability to be fully engaged can inspire others and create impactful interactions.

  • LEADERSHIP: the management of resources, whether that’s finances, relationships, or community dynamics.

  • SUPPORT: the balance between personal needs and collective wellbeing.

  • INNOVATION: unfolding of new ideas or projects.

Human Design readings generally don't tell you anything you don't already know at some level, but they are incredibly empowering and reassuring. They remind us that we are all unique, and perfect, because of those unique qualities, not in spite of them. These readings provide us with confidence to be who we are proudly.

Infusing this into your brand makes it authentic in a way that is unmistakable and incredibly alluring.

Step two: Developing Gabrielle's Brand

Gabrielle's vision is to help make everyone she works with in her styling business feels like a star. She is warm, bubbly, charismatic AND she loves musical theatre - I fell in love with her straight away! Her brand needed to reflect her! This bright bubbly energy and that fact that she is a Manifesting Generator means Gabby thrives when following all her passions and interests and flits between them lighting up those around her with a magnetic aura. I knew straight away that I wanted to use a star motif but that it needed more to it. I created a Logo Mark that was a star made up of many elements of styling and fashion (shoes, hats, clothes, bags, and more!) as well a some 'bubbles', sunbursts, love hearts and moons. Multi faceted and multi passionate just just Gabby. Plus she loves a sparkle ;) All the parts that make up a style story.

These custom drawn sunburst, moon, love heart and star illustrations that were included in the main logo mark expanded Gabby's brand suite and can be used as branded cons throughout her business, e.g. as her Instagram highlight icons.

They were each chosen specifically as they represent Gabby and her work: The heart. You do your work with such love and care and it is all centred around helping others to love themselves even more.

The Star. This is an echo of your main logo mark and a huge part of your brand. You help everyone feel like a star.

The Sunburst. You are like sunshine in your client’s lives’, helping to provide a bright, fun and fresh approach to styling.

The Moon. This is a very feminine symbol and a nod to the different phases of or lives. With these illustrations, along with the colour pallet defined early on and a good feel for the type of fonts that had a good balance of classic style and playfulness Style Story by Gabrielle was brought to life!

Stage three: Professional Brand Photoshoot

Part of Gabby's branding project was the creation of a new website to reflect her new brand. One of the most important parts of a beautiful website are great photos that help capture the essence of the brand and the person. The very talented Kate Mcallister Photography captured this for Gabby beautifully and the shots really reflected the brand and mood board I created for her. She nailed the brief!

These images were perfect to then use on the website and Gabby will be able to continue to use them across any of her promotional channels to help tell her story visually. As a Stylist Gabby also knew exactly what outfits to wear that reflected her and her brand well.

Stage four: Website creation Your website is one of your most important communication tools. Making sure it looks and feel like you and your brand is super important when it come to building brand recognition.

I helped Gabby craft her website content in way that really expressed her vision, mission, personality, human design, expertise and services, clearly to her audience. I used the brand icons as animations to help add that fun playful feeling and the photos from really helped the site pop! You can check out Gabby site here and be sure to get in touch with her if you are looking for a fun approach to helping not only find your unique style but to love it. All you are that makes you a star. Wear you story.

Understanding Gabby's Human Design before we started on her branding meant that the process was smooth and the result was truly authentic, inspired by and anchored in her true essence. I am so grateful that she trusted me to bring this to life for her!
